Update 0.5.3: Dynamic Club Strength — Every Opponent Now Fields Its Best Eleven
AI clubs no longer carry a fixed strength number. Each one now has a real squad, and its match strength is calculated from its best available eleven before every game — so stronger divisions are genuinely tougher, and the stage is set for AI transfers.
Play NowOpponents in Goalcrest just got a lot more real. Every AI club used to carry a single fixed strength number that never changed — it decided how hard a fixture felt, but told you nothing about the players behind it. Version 0.5.3 changes that from the ground up.
Every club across all five divisions now has its own full squad, with player quality scaled to its division. A Premier Division side fields stronger players than a Championship side, which outrates the league below — so the gap you feel on the pitch is now backed by actual squads you can scout on the Club Detail page.
Each club also gets its own preferred formation, and before every match the engine picks that club's best available eleven to line up in it. A side's strength is now worked out from the eleven it actually fields, not a stored number — so who is available, how they're lined up, and how they're playing all feed into how tough the game is.
Because strength now comes from real squads, the path is open for what comes next: when AI transfers arrive, a club that signs a star striker will genuinely become harder to beat, and one that loses its best defender will soften — no manual tweaks required. The whole league pyramid now simulates on the same truthful basis, week in, week out.
Existing careers keep working as before, so you won't lose any progress. Start a fresh save to see the new system in action — scout a rival, note their best eleven, and feel the difference when you meet them on matchday.
